Late to the party, Google releases its own iPad competition, Google Nexus 7!  At the Google I/O Conference last week, Google announced many exciting things.  Of course you should check out their other toy, Google Nexus Q, but all eyes were on the beautiful Nexus 7 made by ASUS.

Highlights:

  • Runs the latest Google Android OS 4.1 – Jellybean.
  • 7″ 1280 x 800 IPS Display.
  • 1.3 GHz NVIDIA Tegra 3 Quad-Core Processor (T30L – 4 x Cortex A9)
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 10.45 mm thick
  • Weighs 340 grams
  • No microSD, No Camera
  • WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, micro USB
  • Up to 8 hours official battery life.
  • Microphone, NFC (Android Beam), Accelerometer, GPS, Magnetometer, Gyroscope
  • First device to come with Chrome Browser as a default.  (Chrome is finally out of beta. You can get it for your phone at the Google Play Store the only downside is Chrome does not support Flash)
  • It comes in Black at the moment. Rumors say it might come in Brown too!
  • Storage – 8GB Version for $199.99 (£159 in UK), 16GB Version for $249.00 (£199 in UK).
