Computer security is an ever increasing problem and there are many companies out there that provide some form of protecting. Norton is one of those companies. Norton Internet Security 2009 includes Antivirus protection, Spyware protection, a Two-Way firewall, Intrusion Prevention, OS and application protection, and web site authentication. This year they claim to be the fatest and lightest security suite available, which is quite impressive since Norton has typically being one of the slowest and most resource using security programs on the market. It is also Windows 7 ready.

Next time I think about purchasing a phone, the very first information I am going to research is the application store and the amount of applications it offers. These days, it is imperative that a company offers an application store. Currently, Apple, Nokia, Blackberry, Sony Ericsson, Palm, Samsung, and LG all have their own application stores. Some Apps stores have countless of applications and others barely have any. Here is a quick list on some of the Apps stores and their benefits.

Palm has their Mobile application store included on their webOS phone starting with the Palm Pre.

Applications designed for the Palm® webOS™ platform let you do more—they can work with Calendar, Contacts, and other apps on the Palm Pre™ phone, taking advantage of the unique capabilities of webOS. To get applications, browse the catalog on your phone and download them over the air to your Pre. {http://www.palm.com/us/products/software/mobile-applications.html}

Palm announced that it will start accepting applications for their Apps store. The developers will be paid 70 percent for their application and any money they earn through the sale. This announcement is for their beta e-commerce program. The applications need to be useful, engaging and need to have an appealing design for starters. For more information on the program and how to submit, proceed here: http://pdnblog.palm.com/2009/08/developers-bring-us-your-apps-and-sell-them-too/

Cell phone manufacturers have to be intimidated with the rapid progress of the application store offered by Apple. Apple has over 65,000 applications on their App store. Application stores are beneficial to a cell phone manufacturer. Apple has numerous applications created by third-party developers that have gone to make the iPhone more popular than Apple may have done alone. Seeing this benefit, Samsung Mobile has decided to step their game up. Their first step is to wine and dine the developers and they are playing it real smooth with this step. Here is how they will pull it off:

Who? Samsung Mobile

What? Samsung Widget Software Developers Camp {developers will have a go at creating a widget to compete in one of five categories – Social Media, News/Reference, Health/Fitness, Travel/Entertainment and Humor/Fun. The winner in each category will receive a 5,000-dollar prize, while the best-in-show widget will earn its creator a cool 20,000 dollars award and the opportunity to attend CTIA I.T. & Entertainment 2009 expo and have their widget shown-off at the Samsung booth.}

Why? Samsung Mobile needs to increase the widgets offered on their TouchWiz enabled phones (those that run on Windows Mobile, Symbian and Samsung proprietary OS)

We will see if Samsung Mobile will be able to pull this off. They gave me a great deal a couple of months ago and I saved an extra $75 on my trip. (Check out how you can save on any trip by using our free coupon code sites)

According to the guys at Gizmodo, Apple’s Snow Leopard upgrade might be much better than Microsoft’s Windows upgrade. In short here is what they had to say:

Apple’s Snow Leopard will be out in September for $29 unless you bought your Mac on or after June 8, 2009, in which case you can upgrade for about $9.95 [Read More]. Windows 7 comes out around October 22nd for about $50 for Home Premium or $100 for Professional [Read More]

Snow Leopard requires a minimum of about 5GB of your disk space while Windows 7 requires a minimum of about 16GB for the 32-bit and 20GB for the 64-bit version (in actuality, they say Windows 7 should use about 6-8GB).

Windows 7 will be in either 64-Bit version or 32-Bit version (the latter will only recognize 4GB of RAM). Snow Leopard will come in 64-bit version only.

Windows 7 will feature the much anticipated Direct X 11 while Snow Leopard will come with Open CL that will enable programmers to tap into the different cores inside your graphics card for applications that do other things besides graphics (whether it be using your graphics for H.264 video accelleration (enables smoother video playback and eases the load of work on your CPU) for newer Nvidia GeForce 9 Series Macs. Even though the weather forecast is important, I don’t really feel like I need to keep up with it every morning. Check out this application you can get on your iPhone!

Microsoft is coming up with their answer to Apple iTunes Store. They are calling it the Microsoft SkyMarket, and no, it is totally unrelated to t…

Microsoft is coming up with their answer to Apple iTunes Store. They are calling it the Microsoft SkyMarket, and no, it is totally unrelated to the Shopping Magazine! Before you understand how it works or how it will be different from iTunes, you need to understand SkyBox v1.0. The beta version will be released at the MWC 2009 for free. It will support a mobile version of Windows Restore: for data back up and restoration; content management and data sharing. There will also be two more versions to be released.

In the middle of this year, SkyBox v1.5 will be unveiled. As with most Microsoft products, Skybox will come in several versions: standard service or subscription-based SkyBox premium service. The SkyBox v1.5 service will be available on Windows Mobile 6.1, 6.5 and probably 7! In addition to that, it might also run on other non-Windows smart phones.

Despite all the versions discussed above, the flagship will be SkyBox v2.0. This version will come with numerous Microsoft functions and applications. Consumers will be able to navigate their phones directly from the Internet: handling ringtones, backgrounds, mobile applications, music and video! Finally, this will all be tied closely together with the Windows Live service.

SkyBox v2.9 will then tie-a-not with SkyMarket. This is where it gets interesting. The SkyMarket will provide users a way to buy applications through the net (Hmm..Like the Apple AppStore, Blackberry Application Storefront, Google Android Application Market or Samsung S60 and Windows Mobile Mobile Application store?).

This is great because the world is slowly moving towards the smartphone-era! With the sales of Smart phones slowly increasing, with 3G+ connectivity growing in popularity, it is only a matter of time until smart phones replace your laptops for that business trip!
